Issue #9 - The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2025

The Occasional Rider is once again supporting the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. This year's event takes place on Sunday, May 18th .

What is DGR?

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR) is an annual global charity and motorcycle event held to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer and men's mental health research . Since its inception in 2012, the DGR has raised over $54 million for research.

Participants dress up in classic "dapper" attire (think Mad Men) and ride together in a quiet and orderly motorcycle procession . The entire event is clean and is always very popular with both participants and spectators. Despite the name, it is of course aimed at both gentlemen and gentlewomen .

Pre-registration

The event requires pre-registration at https://www.gentlemansride.com/ . In some cases, local organizers have chosen to charge a registration fee, but this then goes entirely to the local fundraiser.

Participating cities in Sweden

At the time of writing, there are events planned in the following Swedish cities: Stockholm, Gothenburg, Karlstad, Lidköping, Västervik, Sundsvall, Umeå. It is also possible to start your own DGR ride in another city. More information about this can be found at https://www.gentlemansride.com/about/host-a-ride

A misconception is that DGR is only for Triumph riders. Many different types of motorcycles are welcome to participate, although the event is happy to see older motorcycles. A style guide for which motorcycles can be entered can be found at https://www.gentlemansride.com/about/style-guide

Even if you don't want to or can't participate yourself, you can still contribute to the event by sponsoring another driver.
