Select Title

Elspeth Beard is one of a small group of select pioneers who chose to embark on a worldwide motorcycle adventure long before mobile navigation, the internet, e-mail and mobile phones. In October 1982, she loaded up her used 1974 BMW R 60/6 (it had already covered nearly 5,000 miles before the trip began) and set off on an adventure that would last two years. During her trip, she documented everything diligently in both journals and with photographs, but after her return to England everything ended up in boxes while Elspeth tackled everyday life and a successful career as an architect.

In 2017, the travelogue Lone Rider finally came out, which described her strenuous journey. It also contained a few pictures from the trip, but mostly the reader had to let their imagination do the work to create a picture of all the environments and encounters Elspeth experienced.

With the new book Lone Rider - The photographs, we can finally have access to significantly more of the photographs Elspeth took during her two-year motorcycle adventure. The book contains 450 photographs that document her journey around the world.

The copies we received are signed by Elspeth.
